About My Fused Glass Work:
My pieces are all kiln formed glass. I use colored glass powder, glass frit & dichroic glass to create a picture on a glass sheet. Glass colors melt & burn-out at certain temperatures, so I layer the colors accordingly, and then I fire (fuse & slump) my work in an electric kiln. Next, I add more colors of glass powder & glass frit to the picture; re-fire at a different temperature, and so on until the piece is complete. A finished work of art has been fired in a kiln numerous times in order to achieve the desired color combinations. The layering also adds depth & dimension.
Glass is my canvas & my paint. I use glass to create images that capture the reflective quality of light, along with the vibrant colors found in nature & the space that surrounds us.
